How to choose wedding vendors?

Updated: Jul 4, 2022

Another year has come and gone, the holidays have passed, that could mean something. Maybe you have just gotten engaged or maybe you were already engaged and are in the process of wedding planning. Whatever the case, you're probably wondering what the next step is, right?

The obvious answer would be to possibly start planning your wedding. Let's be real though, just thinking about it can be a bit overwhelming, am I right? Your mind is probably racing with thoughts on where to begin. Do I want something small? Do I want something big? Should I hire a wedding planner or do everything on my own? Who will I pick to be bridesmaids? Who will I choose as my groomsmen? What color palette should I go with? What's in season?

It's a lot to think about. Trust me, I'm there with ya. The good thing about planning a wedding is that there are professionals (such as myself) who know the ins and outs of the wedding industry and have been around it for years to help with this. Who are we?

We are YOUR VENDORS

The wedding industry is made up of numerous talented vendors but choosing the ones right for YOU is the way to go. In my opinion, choosing the right vendors are not about going with who or what's popular but by going with how that vendor's creativity fits into who you are and what you want. While having five star reviews, popularity, and good artistry are huge pros, choosing who is best for you is all about how you feel with them.

For me, being a wedding photographer is not just about being your photographer. As my client, we are much more than just a business relationship, we are family. There's love, trust, and admiration between us and what we both value. When you can see the love and passion that I have for my brand and the hard work and dedication that is put into it, that should tell you all you need to know. Here are some tips I feel would help you in making your choice...

  • Research locals and surrounding areas

  • What is it about their work you admire so much?

  • Do they fit your style and what you envisioned for your wedding?

  • What matters most to you about their role in your wedding?

  • How does their work make you feel?

  • What are others saying about them?

  • How long have they been in business? Does that matter to you?

  • What makes them & their brand stand out for you? What is unique about them that you like?

These are great questions to ask yourself but the next will determine a huge advantage for you. That is point of contact..

  • Most importantly!! What is the vibe? How do they make you feel? Are they welcoming? Do you feel your personalities mesh well?

All of these are key points in choosing who will be the right vendors for you. Of course, there are many other questions you may ask yourself but this is a great way of beginning. Hope this was helpful!

Happy Planning!
